This fall we went to shoot the 2010 Julia Diehl swimsuit collection in Los Angeles, CA. Jumping from locations in Hollywood, San Pedro to the desolate and remote setting of the Los Angeles desert.
All shot on Hasselblad H3DII and used Profoto lighting to control the end result.

This November 26th Calumet is hosting an event at the Fotomuseum in Antwerpen in cooperation with Apple, Hasselblad and Profoto. I’ll be there to talk about collaborative creativity, workflow and much more. More info and registration: Creative Pro Events
We recently created a new campaign image for the CM – Christelijk Mutualiteit. They’re motivating youngsters to do more sports by offering them a 30 euro refund to a subscription at the local sports club.
Louise is on her big adventure in Japan. She left a couple of weeks ago to model over there. And talk about a big adventure. If you read a bit Dutch, then check out her blog.
One of our latest fashion productions was an urban industrial fashion shoot we produced in the industrial port of Antwerp. The dramatic background was so exactly what we wanted !
The styling was done by fashionista Michelle Warneke, who involved some really great brands in this production.
Some weeks ago we met up with former Dutch Playboy model Bianca to produce the September cover for Menzo magazine. Well, let me tell you this, although she posed for Playboy and landed quite some photo shoots in the past, this Dutch beauty still has both feet on the ground.
If you want to see more of this gorgeous (naked) girl, you’ll need to run to your nearest kiosk to get your copy.
When you shoot them, you always turn to digital enhancement to ’shoot’ it again. I mean, Photoshop is such a powerful tool that it enables you to fine-tune your images in a way you would be unable to create them through pure photography. Oh, sorry to offend anybody with this statement. Of course it is possible, but it’s a form of art not mastered by all MUA’s and photographers.
It’s needless to say you require a very skilled and talented MUA. And… a good model. Or should I say, a model with a good – near perfect – skin.
Just out of curiosity I shot some beauty images a while ago, to experience the pitfalls. Enjoy …
Shooting in Costa Rica sounds like music to everybody’s ears. However, in reality it’s not all fun and joy. On the contrary my dear ‘Watson’. During one of my latest fashion productions in Pura Vida-land, the heat and the humidity were at times unbearable: 35°C/95°F and 100% humidity.
The humidity alone caused some of the metal pieces on my ProFoto lighting equipment to rust on Day 1. But more seriously, it also worked on the performance of our models who were less imaginative and creative with their poses. Luckly they were handling very professional under the circumstances, facing the enormous heat, and giving 200% at all times.
My MUA – Kate Couture – had to jump in continuously to fine-tune the models’ make-up during one of our fashion shoots.
But at the end, we walked away with a good fashion editorial. Enjoy.
Downtown Los Angeles.
Yesterday we found some GREAT spots to shoot at. So we decided to go back to Downtown for our shoot with Danelle. Danelle is great to work with: she works the camera, she’s got a gorgeous body and a perfect smile. Busy day: Olga doing her magic thing with her brushes, Michelle taking care of the styling, Werner carrying my cameras around and Mr. Powers taping the making-off and leading us to some excellent downtown LA spots.
Tip: tell your model to smile at the men in blue when they pass by in their patrol car. It can work wonders!
Downtown LA is no playground. During our shoot with Playboy model Tamara Witmer we set camp at about 300m away from one of LA’s biggest homeless communities. Talk about how fucked up our world sometimes is: we’re shooting a gorgeous girl with very expensive cameras, while a bit further away, people live in cardboard boxes.
While shooting this, a little bit further downtown they were busy shooting the new Die Hard movie with Bruce Willis. Although we had a nicer model to work with, they had the bigger budget – needed it as well, to close down half of downtown!
Tamara is a wonderful girl. She’s got the Playboy attitude all the way and never stops smiling. You might have seen her on the cover of Playboy or as cyber girl of the week/month on Playboy Online. If you’re a frequent reader you would have noticed her for sure. We don’t doubt that!
We were out shooting a glamour editorial with Hollywood model/actrice Dawn Olivieri for MAXIM. Chris – aka Mr. Powers – did some great location hunting for this production and thus we set out for some great beach shots near South Beach.
For this production we hooked up with Olga Schleicher, an Austrian MUA who recently moved to Los Angeles. Great MUA to work with!
